Grand Hotel Valies is a luxury family hotel in a unique location at the center of Roermond. The hotel is located on the bank of the river Roer, surrounded by various historic buildings and the “Voorstad”, one of the oldest city districts. From the hotel you can see the adjacent River Roer and the ancient Maria Theresia Bridge, which was built in 1771 by order of the Austrian Archduchess. Roermond is located in the heart of Limburg. It is an old administrative and episcopal city, with many historical attractions. The city on Maas, Roer and Swalm is centrally located in the Euregion Rhine-Meuse-North. The borders with Germany and Belgium are less than 15 kilometers away.


Just a stroll of a few minutes away is the entrance to one of the largest and most successful Designer Outlet centers in Europe, which is open 363 days a year. But do not forget the historic city center, it has a lot to offer with a large variety of shops, the hotel is right in the middle of it.


The Roermond region is an eldorado for water sports enthusiasts and recreationists. The region is the largest contiguous water sports area in The Netherlands. You can enjoy a tour boat or waterbus with a boarding point on the Roerkade directly next to the Grand Hotel Valies. You can also rent a boat yourself. After a day out, it is time for relaxation. Why not visit the Dennemarken sauna. Dennemarken is also an indoor sports center where you can enjoy the fitness facilities, play tennis, squash and much more including a children’s playground.


Roermond is surrounded by woods, fields, meadows and farmland. The scenic countryside of Midden-Limburg is a must when you like to go for walks or are a bicycle enthusiast. You can enjoy everything the area has to offer and will be shown the splendour of parks like ‘de Meinweg’, ‘het Swalmdal’, ‘het Leudal’ and ‘de Beegderheide’ along carefully laid out routes. The nature parks with protected fauna & flora are located at bicycle distance of the city. This region has been designated as a valuable culture landscape.


In terms of culture, the city has a lot to offer and has something for everyone. In addition to a rich club life Roermond has; Theatre ‘de Oranjerie’, the ‘Centre for the Arts’, ‘Het Historiehuis’ and ‘het Cuypershuis’ to name only a few. Famous architect Pierre Cuypers (1827-1921) who designed for example the ‘Rijksmuseum’ in Amsterdam, was born in Roermond. He left a legacy of beautiful buildings which have all been restored and are well worth a visit.
